关于城市设计课程
课程负责人:王林 教授
上海交通大学设计学院首届建筑学国际专业硕士的城市设计课程,我们尝试搭建了由具有丰富城市设计实践经验的国内外顶尖设计公司负责人与教师共同组成教学团队,并确立了城市设计课程的教学目标与关键内容:一是理解城市设计的本质:聚焦城市公共领域的设计,以及如何通过设计提高公共空间的品质、增加城市空间的价值;二是掌握城市设计方法:通过指导设计过程的思维逻辑,形成发现问题、设定目标,寻求方案的全过程学习与方法形成ZoneCoin。三是通过教学团队与同学的交互发展出一套教学方法,通过提问、质疑、启发等多角度思辨性设计讨论,激发同学们富有逻辑与推演、目标与使命,活跃与创意的自主思维与设计成果。
Course Principal: Prof. WANG Lin
For the Urban Design course of the first International Master Program in Architecture at Shanghai Jiao Tong School of Design, we have set up a teaching team that consists of the heads of leading domestic and international design firms and teachers with rich experience in urban design practice, while establishing the teaching objectives and key content of the urban design course. The first objective is understanding the essential nature of urban design, focusing on the design of public relationships and the improvement of public space through value-added design. The second is formulating a methodology for urban design, guiding students to master the design thinking process of urban design, by logically identifying problems, defining goals and working out solution through a holistic and methodological process. The third is developing a teaching methodology through the interaction between the teaching fellows and students during practical exercises. Through multi-perspectival and speculative design discussions, we want to urge the students to think and design using their logic, deduction, goals, missions, independent thinking, and creativity.

Urban Waterfront Regeneration——Transforming the identity of our cities through integrating development and quality public space
城市设计(二)“上海城市滨水空间更新探索”为题,自4月19日至6月17日历时60天,由上海交通大学设计学院建筑学系王林教授主持ZoneCoin。教学团队由SOM中国区域负责人Peter Duncan带领,余留地联合创始人岳峰,设计学院助理教授孙昊德, SOM资深副总监孙乃飞组成。6月17日的终期汇报邀请到设计学院院长、光启讲席教授阮昕,清华大学建筑学院副院长,教授刘健,同济大学建筑与城规学院教授,原副院长孙彤宇,浦东新区规资局规划处处长,原浦东新区规划院院长吴庆东,AECOM高级副总裁刘泓志等国内外专家学者,为同学们带来了分享最前沿的研究视角与思考角度。
The “Urban Design Part Two”ZoneCoin,titled “Urban Waterfront Regeneration”, lasted for 60 days from April 19 to June 17, and was coordinated and designed by WANG Lin, professor of Architecture Department in School of Design of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The teaching team has experienced practical mentors such as Peter Duncan, SOM China Practice Leader; YUE Feng, co-founder of "designRESERVE"; SUN Haode, assistant professor of School of Design, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; SUN Naifei, SOM senior Associate Principal, etc. In the final design review, also invited RUAN Xing, Dean and Guangqi Chair Professor of Architecture, School of Design, SJTU; LIU Jian, Associate Dean and Professor, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University; SUN Tongyu, Former Vice Dean, Professor of CAUP Tongji University; WU Qingdong, Deputy Director of Planning Management Division of Shanghai Pudong New Area Planning and Natural Resources Bureau; LIU Hung-Chih, AECOM Senior Vice President and other renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad, sharing the most cutting-edge research and thinking perspectives with students.

课程内容简介
中国城市的滨水空间更新发展迅速ZoneCoin。通过借鉴国内外案例在重塑城市、整合发展与公共空间塑造等方面的经验,在滨水空间建立新的联系,来重新定义了我们的城市。正如我们可以通过高质量和无障碍的公共空间形成变革性转变,来改善其他区域与滨水空间的连接,形成可贵的内在价值。
Urban waterfront regeneration has been evolving rapidly in China, taking reference from international experience in reshaping cities, integrating development and public space that has reorientated our cities through a new relationship with their waterfront. There is intrinsic value to the way we may improve connection to waterfront through a transformative shift in the quality of development and accessible public space. Waterfront has become an unrealized asset to cities as they plan and implement urban regeneration.
在过去的二十年里,上海的滨水空间已经发生了巨大变化,通过城市更新,将城市重新塑造为几乎连续的公共空间整体ZoneCoin。整体看来,滨水空间已成为城市规划和实施城市更新时有待进一步挖掘的宝贵资产。认识到城市滨水空间的重要性之后,其尚未实现的空间愿景和尚未激活的区域,将逐步推动城市滨水空间的发展进入新的阶段。这也是一个提升滨水公共空间的重要机会,通过整合开发来激活滨水区,连接周围的已开发区域,实现其固有的和未开发的商业价值。
Shanghai’s waterfront has been transformed over the past twenty years, reorientating the city to an almost continuous public space through urban regeneration. In recognizing the importance of this area within the city, waterfront will inform a next stage of maturing development within areas not yet fully complete. There is a significant opportunity to capitalize on the waterfront public space by integrating development that activates the waterfront, connects the surrounding development areas and realizes its inherent and untapped commercial value.
本次课程的目标是让学生更好地了解城市设计在多学科主导的城市发展中的作用,并在具有示范性的滨水空间中,尝试解决重要并潜在的空间转型问题,以更具应用性的设计策略来实现其在城市中的价值ZoneCoin。课程将开发一种基于研究的设计方法,在城市规模上调研场地现实条件,在区域尺度上专注特定城市滨水发展类型的详细设计,形成作用于滨水空间的研究型城市更新设计方法。
The strategic objective of the studio is to better understand the role of urban design as a multi disciplinary led process, addressing important and potential problems of spatial transformation, and demonstrate value through design strategies applied with a demonstration site. The studio will develop a research based approach, exploring the context of site at a large city scale and focus on waterfront regeneration design studies that highlight specific urban typologies.
课程的总体目标包括:
−探索与“通过滨水空间创造价值”相关的城市更新课题;
−对比分析国内外案例ZoneCoin,从五个研究主题出发,研究上海滨水区发展现状,识别上海滨水空间现阶段面临的关键性问题;
−将城市发展的价值创造与政府、投资者、开发商和公众的具体利益相契合;
−为五个具有示范性的城市滨水空间制定空间发展策略,进行详细设计,形成整体规划方案ZoneCoin。
Summary objectives of the studio include:
−Explore urban waterfront regeneration research topics related to “Creating value through Waterfront”
−Research and contrast Shanghai waterfront with international precedence and other cities in China.
−Consider value creation and specific interests from government, development authorities, investors, developers and public.
−Prepare overall masterplan and detailed design strategies within a demonstration area to form a comprehensive plan.
课程开展
第一阶段:整体区域研究 - [城市水岸尺度]
从城市基础设施与防洪、土地利用与规划、市场与人口、历史与文化、生态与开放空间五个切入点对研究范围进行深度调研分析,形成对黄浦江滨江区域的整体认知,识别基地的现实条件和面临的关键问题,并作为总体规划的策略基础ZoneCoin。
From Infrastructure and Flood, Land Use and Planning, Market and Demographics, History and Culture, and Ecology and Open Space of five points on the depth of research scope, form the overall recognition of Huangpu River riverside area, identify the base condition and the key problems facing the reality, and as foundation for overall planning strategy.
第二阶段:分区设计研究 – [城市分区尺度]
各小组从以公共交通为导向的发展、混合用途开发、生活/工作社区、整合文化和公共设施、高新产业园区五个不同的滨水空类型出发,制定发展策略,塑造将建筑形式、功能和公共空间融为一体的城市设计方案,探索滨水空间发展的可能性,实现城市滨水空间的价值再创造ZoneCoin。
Teams from Transport Oriented Development, Mixed Use Development, Live/Work Communities, Integrate Cultural and Public Facilities, Tech Industry Campus, five different types of waterfront space, development strategy, shaping the architectural form, function and integration of urban public space design, to explore the possibility of waterfront space development, realize the value re-creation of urban waterfront space.
研究范围:位于黄浦江滨江区域核心段内,北至董家渡路、塘桥新路,南至卢浦大桥,西至中山南路,东至浦东南路ZoneCoin。并细分为5个各具特点的分地块。
Research area: Located in the core section of Huangpu River Riverside area, it reaches Dongjiadu Road and Tangqiao New Road in the north, Lupu Bridge in the south, Zhongshan South Road in the west and Pudong South Road in the east.

防洪与基础设施是影响滨水公共空间形态的重要因素,为了预防和应对城市的洪水灾害,防汛墙成为了滨水防洪的主要形式ZoneCoin。然而随着防洪控制线逐年提升,从百年一遇的防洪标准到千年一遇的防洪标准,滨水防洪墙也越建越高,成为了影响滨水空间开放性、可达性以及美观性的不利因素。
Flood control and infrastructure are important factors influencing the shape of waterfront public spaces, and flood walls have become the main form of waterfront flood control in order to prevent and respond to urban flood hazards. However, as the flood control line has been raised year by year, from a 100-year flood control standard to a 1,000-year flood control standard, waterfront flood walls have been built higher and higher, becoming a detrimental factor to the openness, accessibility and aesthetics of the waterfront space.

How to change the adverse impact of flood walls on waterfront public spaces requires a deep understanding of the history of flood control and the flood control line of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. Through a study of the profile and current flood control walls of the waterfront spaces of the six plots of the design base, and a strategy study of active flood control measures, a "tool box" for flood control, Dissipate floodwall obstruction of sight lines and roaming paths.

本次城市设计场地位于上海市黄浦江的核心段内,设计主题也为“城市滨水空间改造”ZoneCoin。所以,为了挖掘场地区域内的历史文化特质,我们以时间为轴梳理了自近代开埠以来上海市城市空间形态的演变和滨水空间变化。
Our site is located in the core section of the Huangpu River. In order to extract the historical and cultural elements, we use timeline to sort out the evolution of urban spatial form and the changes in waterfront spaceZoneCoin。
虽然世博已经闭幕,但场地内共有6个世博建筑得以保留,它们彰显了世博会“共享”与“繁荣”的理念ZoneCoin。场地具有近140年的工业历史,目前现存11处工业厂房遗产,江南造船厂的局部建筑也得以保存了下来。作为开埠城市最突出的码头文化,如今场地内现存有15个码头渡口,它们既可以连接陆地和水,也为水上贸易和水上交通的发展均提供了可能。
Although the Expo has closed, a total of 6 Expo buildings have been preserved in the site, which demonstrate the concept of of the Expo——better city, better life. The site has an industrial history of nearly 140 years. At present, there are 11 industrial plant heritage sites, and some buildings of Jiangnan Shipyard have also been preserved. As the most prominent dock culture in the opening city, there are now 15 dock ferries, which not only link land and water, and also provide the possibility for the development of water trade and water transportation.
世博文化代表着当今时代新的生活方式和生活理念;工业文化启迪我们在改造再利用旧有遗产的基础上引入新的产业改革;码头文化则代表着连接,物理区域间的连接,虚拟产业间的连接ZoneCoin。
Expo culture represents the new way of life and life concept in today's era; industrial culture inspires us to introduce new industrial reforms on the basis of transforming and reusing old heritage; wharf culture represents connection between physical areas, and virtual industries.

对研究范围所在的五个不同行政街道规划定位研究后,我们确定:场地一的定位主要以商办混合为主;场地二的定位主要以居住商办混合为主;场地三的定位以总部商务区、总部商务文化传媒和宜居宜业城市综合社区为主;场地四的定位以政务居住综合社区为主;场地五的定位以宜居宜业综合社区为主ZoneCoin。
The research topic of our group is planning and land use. After studying the planning and positioning of five different site within the research scope, we determined that: the position of site 1 is mainly commercial and office mixed; The position of site 2 is mainly mixed with residential business and office. The position of site 3 is mainly the headquarters business district, headquarters business culture media and livable and suitable for business urban comprehensive community; The position of site 4 is mainly government residential community; The position of site 5 is mainly a comprehensive community suitable for living and working.
综合以上,我们认为区域定位比较笼统,不够清晰ZoneCoin。例如浦西、浦东都定位为混合使用、建成多用途的城市空间,但规划实现情况仍需要进一步研究。
Based on the above, we believe that the regional positioning is rather general and not clear enough. For example, Puxi and Pudong are both positioned as mixed-use and multi-purpose urban spaces, but the implementation of planning still needs further research.
为评定混合用地的使用状态,我们根据墨尔本大学设计学院 Prof. Kim Dovey 提出的 DMA 理论进行进一步探究——在城市活力研究中,不仅要关注常规的密度和可达性问题,还要关注土地混合使用的议题ZoneCoin。他将用地性质分为三类:游览、生活、工作。三者之间正如图解所示,互有影响。在土地混合使用分析中,三原色原理可以用来从垂直层面和水平层面分析功能混合情况。当颜色越接近白色,则代表该地块混合使用程度越高。
In order to evaluate the use state of mixed land, we further explore the DMA theory proposed by Prof. Kim Dovey of the School of Design, University of Melbourne - in the study of urban vitality, we should not only pay attention to the conventional density and accessibility, but also to the issue of mixed use of land. He classifies land use into three categories: visiting, living and working. These three influence each other as the diagram shows. In the analysis of mixed use of land, the principle of three primary colors can be used to analyze functional mixing from vertical level and horizontal level. The closer the color is to white, the higher the degree of mixed use is.

结合基地调研,我们在场地中发现以下问题:世博遗产具有商业和公共价值,现在等待转型;大事件后游客骤减,需要塑造新的“目的地”;对于场地中的办公表现,我们发现市场竞争加剧,全市办公市场表现揭示了对新模式的需求;地块内的活力区远离滨江,应该利用基地优势;人流量依赖事件,需要更日常的“开启”;为了满足不同人群的需求,需要分类策划空间与活动;世博后,服务人群转变了,需要功能配比的调整ZoneCoin。
Topic of Group 4: Market and Demographic. Combined with site survey we found the following problems in the site: the World Expo heritages still have commercial and public value, and now it is waiting for transformation. After the big event, the number of tourists plummeted, and a new "destination" needs to be created. Regarding the office performance in the site, we found that the market competition has intensified, and the city's office market performance has revealed the demand for new models. The dynamic areas in the plot are far from the riverside, and the advantages of the base should be used. The flow of people depends on events and needs to be "triggered" by a more daily experience. In order to meet the needs of different groups of people, it is necessary to classify and plan space and activities. After the World Expo, the service groups have changed, and therefore, the function ratio needs to be adjusted.

上海因水而兴,本课题研究范围位于上海与黄浦江中段相邻的区域,本组研究课题聚焦于生态 & 开放空间——就生态方面而言,滨水空间是城市里珍贵的生态自然环境,水域和绿廊是生物多样性的繁育基地,对高密度城市生态价值重大,此外滨水生态不等于水边生态 , 应惠及更大范围的城市空间;开放空间方面,生态自然的滨水空间之于城市生活也是更为优质的公共空间,此外开放空间也不等于开敞空间,需要多元且活跃的公共功能赋予其活力ZoneCoin。
Shanghai is flourishing because of water. The research area of this topic is located in the area adjacent to the middle section of Shanghai and Huangpu River. We focuses on ecology & open space. In terms of ecology, waterfront space is a precious ecological and natural environment in the city. The water area and green corridor are breeding bases for biodiversity,which are of great ecological value to high-density cities. In addition, waterfront ecology is not equal to ecology near the water, which should benefit a wider territory of urban blocks. In terms of open space, ecological and natural waterfront space is also a better public space for urban life. In addition, open space is not equal to vacant space, which requires diverse and active public functions.
生物多样性与植物多样性是场地前期调研中重要的考虑因素,小组梳理了场地内现存以及适应滨水生长的动植物类型ZoneCoin。同时对现状河岸进行切片分析,场地内大面积的码头平台未能给予生物多样性提供适宜的客观条件。而依据不同季节气候的变化、植物生长方式、动物迁徙规律进行城市设计的综合性考量,是生态与开放空间的价值出发点。
Biodiversity and botanical diversity were important considerations in the pre-study of the site, and the team identified the types of flora and fauna present on the site and adapted to the waterfront. A section of the current riverbank was also analysed, and the large dock platform on the site did not provide suitable conditions for biodiversity.

本组进行了研究范围内的生态环境现状研究与开放空间分类 & 评价,研究发现滨水岸线类型极大影响自然物种多样性,滨水界面与城市边界的关系塑造了公共空间;总体来说物种多样性方面世博公园南面优于临市中心的北面,开放空间总体质量浦东优于浦西,因而得出结论——高密度城市发展削减了滨水空间的生物多样性,减少了自然开放空间ZoneCoin。
This group has carried on the ecological environment status research and the open space classification & evaluation within the research scope. It was found that the type of shoreline greatly affected the natural species diversity. The relationship between the waterfront interface and the urban boundary shapes the public space. In general, the south side of the Expo Park is better than the north side of downtown in terms of species diversity.

结合前期分析,我们提出了三个场地现有问题ZoneCoin。首先,城市发展缩减了自然开放空间,减弱了滨水空间的公共性。其次,生态环境单一化以及公共空间碎片化较为明显。最后,现有城市物理边界与水文变化状态不契合。在提高生态性方面,采取将人工河岸进行自然改造的策略,同时引入当地的动植物种群进行生态修复,最后结合微地形以及雨水收集等手段进行防洪处理。在开放空间层面,将建筑底层架空,利用底层空间以及屋顶空间形成城市开放公园供市民使用,同时起到沟通城市空间与滨水空间的作用。而在开放模式方面,通过网格的叠加体系,来满足车行与人行的使用需求。不同类型的办公空间也可以满足不同人群的办公需求。功能混合开发也可以提高园区的使用韧性。
Firstly, urban development has reduced the natural open space and weakened the public nature of waterfront space. Secondly, the fragmentation of ecological environment and public space is more obvious. Finally, the existing urban physical boundaries do not fit with the hydrological change state. In terms of improving ecology, a strategy of natural transformation of artificial river banks is adopted, while local flora and fauna are introduced for ecological restoration, and finally flood control is carried out by combining microtopography and rainwater harvesting.

园区愿景中体现了不同方面的设计畅想ZoneCoin。包括生态修复、城市农场、洪涝防护、职住平衡、智慧出行以及能源自给等等。同时我们结合 NBS 策略针对场地不同的空间类型提出了不同的设计手法,例如滨水岸边,高架桥下,底层公园等不同空间节点。
Different aspects of the design vision are reflected in the vision of the campus. Which include ecological restoration, urban farms, flood protection, work-life balance, smart mobility and energy self-sufficiency. At the same time, we propose different design approaches with the NBS strategy for different spatial types of the site.
设计总体规划目标为以保证办公园区容积率为前提增加自然绿地和开放空间面积,具体设计以韧性概念为依据从三个方面展开:生态方面重塑自然岸线,开辟内部运河,实现生态保育和微气候调节;开放空间方面整合绿地,活化公共服务功能,以绿廊连接滨水与周边;高科技园区规划方面以网格街区实现集约布局,功能混合ZoneCoin。
The overall planning goal of the design is to increase the area of natural green space and open space on the premise of ensuring the volume ratio of the office park, and the specific design is based on the concept of resilience in three aspects: ecological aspects to reshape the natural shoreline and open up internal canals to achieve ecological conservation and microclimate regulation; open space aspects to integrate green space, revitalize public service functions, and connect the waterfront with the surrounding area with a green corridor; high-tech park planning with a grid The high technology park is planned as a grid with intensive layout and mixed functions.
建筑体量设计为底层架空和多层级屋面平台,建筑功能以头部企业办公空间,科技研发空间,公共开放空间为主,辅以生活生产服务配套空间,以大数据技术实现智慧园区,功能混合的弹性空间满足高科技产业发展需求,运用NBS策略达到可持续绿色发展ZoneCoin。
The building volume is designed with elevated ground floor and multi-level roof platform, and the building functions are mainly office space for head enterprises, R&D space for science and technology, and public open space, supplemented by supporting space for living and production services, with big data technology to realize a smart park, and flexible space with mixed functions to meet the needs of high-tech industry development, and NBS strategy to achieve sustainable green development.

第四小组: 后世博城市生活秀场
—基于重构产业与公共事件的滨水空间更新
Group4:Post-Expo + Show - Urban waterfront regeneration by reshaping industry and public activities
由于基地的特殊性(存在世博遗产再利用的问题),我们选择在考虑滨水空间设计的同时,将场地从滨江向内陆划分为三个区块,采取不同的设计策略和力度(在整块场地上贯通行人可达性和调整公共空间,滨水区重点设计,核心区对重要建筑进行微更新,对周边其他地块置入小体量建筑优化功能),调整场地环境,从而达到重塑世博产业,打造生活秀场滨水区的愿景ZoneCoin。
Due to the particularity of the site (there is the issue of reuse of World Expo heritage), we chose to divide the site into three blocks from the riverside to the inland while considering the design of the waterfront space, and adopted different design strategies and strengths to adjust the site environment (adjust the pedestrian accessibility and public space in the whole site; key design happens on the waterfront area; carry out micro-renovation of important buildings in the core area; and insert small-scale buildings into other surrounding plots to optimize the function), to achieve the vision of reshaping the Expo industry and creating a waterfront area of life show.

After dividing the public space on the site, event and activity planning still needs to inject vitality into the public space. By analyzing the event trends and serving people led by various buildings in the site, corresponding activities are designed in the surrounding public space, and then the form and scale of the public space are designed according to the activities.
由黄浦江向内,我们依次设置了四个功能条带,滨江区为展示功能聚集区,向岸内,第二条带功能为居住、娱乐,第三条带为媒体产业,第四条带为艺术园区、艺术产业办公ZoneCoin。从而形成产业+展示一体化的聚集效应,并且提高居住区比例也能利于提高场地活力。
From the Huangpu River inward, we have set up four functional strips in turn. The Binjiang District is a gathering area for display functions. The waterfront area in the original site only has forest park and walking paths, lacking practical functions. In addition, large public spaces with no actual function are wasted on the site, and the advantages of the waterfront area have not yet been exploited. Therefore, we put the waterfront public space into specific industries and functions, add building volumes appropriately, create a sense of enclosure for the public space, and connect the functions of the waterfront area with other plots, so that the functions of different plots can be mutual penetration.

场地位于上海市黄浦区原江南造船厂旧址,拥有百年的工业历史和码头文化,在举办享誉全球的世博盛宴后,如今在后世博时代面临着转型的困境ZoneCoin。通过深挖江南制造的历史,梳理码头空间发展的趋势,站在新时代的起点,希望以展现江南制造的开拓精神为主,打造一个新的创新产业集群,即依托码头空间融合科创产业、文创体验、未来生活试验的江南制造文化创意港。
The site is located in the former Jiangnan Shipyard in Huangpu District, Shanghai, which has a hundred years of industrial history and wharf culture.After holding the world renowned Expo banquet, now it faces the dilemma of transformation in the post-Expo era. By digging deeper into the history of Jiangnan manufacturing, sorting out the trend of the development of the dock space, and standing at the starting point of the new era, we hope to create a new innovative industrial cluster by focusing on showing the pioneering spirit of Jiangnan manufacturing, i.e. the Jiangnan manufacturing cultural and creative port that relies on the dock space to integrate science and innovation industry, cultural and creative experience, and future life experiment.
设计以三个船坞为核心,营造场地轴线,并以遗留的世博廊桥作为场地文化的记忆延续,将其转译为水廊ZoneCoin。通过引江水入场地,延续码头文化,沿水道两侧布置相互连接的科创产业,形成环抱之势,打造出以船坞为中心的科技论坛岛,呼应江南造船滨水而兴的历史。外环景观绿带将遗存的历史建筑串联起来,形成文化体验的空间序列。人才创新交流区和商业文化服务区与船坞核心区三位一体,互动联通,两条轴线分别从地铁站和生态塔指向船坞和码头所在的滨水空间。通过底层架空和体块错动的手法,充分利用滨水空间的价值,营造更多交流互动的空间场所,激发出人才创新的活力。
The design takes the three docks as the core, creates the site axis, and takes the remaining Expo corridor bridge as the memory continuation of the site culture, translating it into a water corridor.By diverting water from the river to the site, the wharf culture is continued, and interconnected science and innovation industries are arranged along both sides of the waterway, forming an encircling trend. A science and Technology Forum Island centered on the dock is created, echoing the history of the waterfront shipbuilding in Jiangnan.The outer landscape green belt links the remaining historical buildings to form a spatial sequence of cultural experiences. The talent and innovation exchange area and the commercial and cultural service area are integrated with the core area of the dockyard. The two axes point from the subway station and the ecological tower to the waterfront space where the dock and the pier are located. Through the method of elevated ground floor and staggered blocks, the value of the waterfront space is fully utilized to create more space for communication and interaction and to stimulate the vitality of talent innovation.

将这三种颜色填补在地图中,如果越接近混合用地性质,则地图上的颜色会越白基于这个理论,再综合考虑了场地周边现存建筑功能和人群以及定位,场地四将被打造成一个融合儿童教育和体育功能的城市片区ZoneCoin。

Based on this theory, and considering the existing building functions, crowds and positioning around the site, Site 4 will be built into a space with integrating children's education and sports functions.

Therefore, the green spaces on the two banks can be smoothly connected into two complete and open green spaces, which stimulates the internal vitality of the site and enhances its accessibility. Considering the relationship between the waterfront and ecology, we made the plots of the Huangpu River and the Bailianjing waterfront into terraced fields, constantly approaching the highest water level, and widened into a lake at the confluence of the two rivers, creating a more water-friendly urban space and experience and add some water sports along the waterfront space.
由此,一个大型的城市水岸公园初步形成ZoneCoin。在此基础上,我们将这座公园延伸进城市内部,创造对市民友好的步行体验。
As a result, a large urban waterfront park was initially formed. On this basis, we extend the park into the city interior to create a citizen-friendly walking experience.

The urban waterfront is growing rapidly and has become a key area of economic and everyday activity in the city, and the further development and exploitation of the value of the urban waterfront has become a key focus of urban design. In this context, we propose an art-oriented urban waterfront design, hoping to combine commerce, art and daily activities in the public space of the city, to drive the vitality of the city with art, so that all citizens can enjoy a beautiful urban waterfront space.
设计场地位于黄浦滨江西岸的世博城市最佳实践区,有PSA,Teamlab等著名的艺术场所,但是作为城市重要的艺术目的地,场地内有大量闲置土地和未被利用的世博场馆,城市开发密度不足ZoneCoin。以艺术为导向的滨水空间设计,目的在于通过艺术活动和艺术场景作为城市事件的发生器,使滨水公共空间充满活力。设计通过3种不同密度的街区,在满足开发强度的同时营造不同的空间,并形成多条垂直于滨水空间的廊道,增强滨水空间的可达性,使艺术在场地的各个区域都可以发生。
The design site is located in the Expo Urban Best Practice Area on the west bank of the Huangpu River, with famous art venues such as PSA and Teamlab, but as an important art destination for the city, the site has a large amount of unused land and unused Expo venues, with insufficient urban development density. The aim of the art-oriented design of the waterfront space is to enliven the waterfront public space through art activities and art scenes as a generator of urban events. The design creates different spaces while meeting the intensity of development through 3 different density blocks and forms several corridors perpendicular to the waterfront space, enhancing the accessibility of the waterfront space and allowing art to happen in all areas of the site.

In this semester, I am confused to a certain level and trying to understand the objective. Furthermore, I also find that this course is challenging not only from the complexity of the project, but also the switch of mindset in design thinking.
在这个学期,我在试图理解课程目标时,感觉到一定程度上的困惑ZoneCoin。此外,我还发现这门课程的挑战不仅来自项目的复杂性,还在于设计思维的思维转换。
What caused the confusion? As we are all from architectural background, I was initially thinking that this course is a course that focuses on architecture because the course title written 'Core Design/Studio' instead of 'Urban Design Studio'. As a student who went through the process, I was even doubting whether I have made mistake in the course selection. I believe this confusion can be avoided instantly by a tweak of course name. This happen to most of the students, and many are unsure too when I asked them.
是什么造成了混乱?由于我们都是建筑背景,我最初认为这门课程是一门专注于建筑的课程,因为课程标题写的是“核心设计”而不是“城市设计”ZoneCoin。作为一个经历过这个过程的学生,我甚至怀疑自己是不是选课失误了。我相信通过调整课程名称可以立即避免这种混淆。大多数学生都会遇到这种情况,当我问他们时,很多人也不确定。
What is the challenging part? The difficulty arise when we are looking at the scale of these project without focusing on architecture(building). Other than that, the ability to link the research to the entire planning is crucial. I eventually understood that a literal linkage of research study in the design proposal is not enough as such surface application is not sufficient to present a project in its maximum value. I believe i still need more time to grasp this skill perfectly.

Professor Peter led this core design session, which gave us a deeper understanding of the design of the city as an object of study.I was very excited to have such a great opportunity to connect with a number of experienced and talented teachers in the class and to participate in a number of impressive lecture workshops with them. Although we were not able to visit the site due to the epidemic, the teachers guided us to use online resources to fully research the site, to take our thinking about the city out of urban planning and building monolithic design, to guide us on how to control the urban form, and finally to guide us to create various practices that can be applied in the city, making the whole process very rewarding for every group and every student. The whole process was very rewarding.
We have had the opportunity to be exposed to both Chinese and international Architecture and their culture in this course as we have professors and tutors from diverse backgrounds. We had a great time learning from the highly qualified tutors as well as the guest lecturers and teaching fellows, to be challenged in our way of thinking and designing. It has deepened our understanding in Architecture and urban design, and we now see them in a different perspective.

During the 9-week urban design studio, we learned about the overall framework, basic methods and logic of urban design. Online courses have brought certain challenges to the preliminary research of the site and the overall positioning judgment of the site. The rich and diverse Internet tools and a large number of literature materials make up for the lack of being able to go to the site to a certain extent. The final results of this project are also inclined to research-oriented design orientation, that is, pay more attention to the preliminary research of design to derive the design city design logic and framework to complete the programming of urban design projects.
滨水开放空间之于城市最大价值在于其生态性,自然生态型公共空间对于可持续的城市发展意义重大,经过一学期的调研与方案推敲,我们进行了关于高密度城市滨水空间设计的思考:滨水开放空间不等于开敞空间,需要多元且活跃的公共功能;滨水生态不等于水边生态,应惠及更大范围的城市街区;应通过设计修复自然的滨水环境,让城市实现“韧性”发展ZoneCoin。

The greatest value of waterfront open space to a city lies in its ecology. Natural ecological public space is of great significance to sustainable urban development. After a semester's research and proposal, we thought about the design of waterfront space in high-density cities: Open space is not equal to vacant space, which requires diverse and active public functions;Waterfront ecology is not equal to ecology near the water, which should benefit a wider territory of urban blocks;Restoring nature environment through design,which could make cities more“resilient”.

滨水地区的城市更新在全球许多城市的重新定位过程中发挥了重要作用ZoneCoin。成立“城市设计核心工作室2”的初衷是研究上海城市与黄浦江之间的关系,在制定设计策略时整合新的开发方式,提高滨水更新项目的土地价值。在工作室的筹备工作开始时,我们希望用一个更大的研究区域赋予学生更具挑战性的任务。该区域的覆盖面积约为30平方公里,已具备塑造城市的潜力。我们同时还参考了国际上一些新的滨水区开发综合体和公共空间方面的成功案例。接着我们又把研究重点集中在黄浦江畔包含2010年世博会园区在内的五个滨水区场地。工作室以小组为单位分享了研究主题,着重研究场地历史和文化、场地的防洪和土地利用控制、景观和开放空间,以及交通和城市人口信息。然后,学生们把各自的基础研究应用到五个滨水区的设计研究中去,每个区域的研究重点为“现有及周边的土地利用与环境相结合的特定开发类型”。工作室也充分调动了留学生群体为我们带来的不同观点,同时就上海的滨水生活体验和黄浦江沿岸的发展机遇探索了新的可能性。
Urban regeneration of waterfront districts have been instrumental in reorienting many cities throughout the world. The Urban Design Core Studio 2 was planned to review Shanghai’s relationship with the Huang Pu review and develop design strategies that would integrate new development approaches that increased land value in waterfront regeneration. When initially preparing our studio we looked to challenge the students by investigating a larger study area, covering approximately 30km2 which had the potential of shaping the city. We identified international precedent case studies as examples where new waterfront development with mixed function and public space had been successfully established. We then concentrated our study across five waterfront sites Huang Pu covering the 2010 Expo area. The studio was organized in groups to share research topics highlighting the sites history and culture, site flooding and land use controls, landscape and open space, transport and urban demographics. The students then applied their foundation research within design studies across the five waterfront precincts, each focusing on a particular typology that integrated with existing and surrounding land use context. The studio fully engaged our international student group bringing diverse views whilst exploring new possibilities that can enrich the waterfront experience and development opportunity along the Huang Pu River in Shanghai.
城市设计真是一门非常难教的课程ZoneCoin。不仅因为其问题的“尺度”在空间和时间上没有绝对的边界 。也因为初始“任务”具有不确定性,并在任何阶段都具有扩展性。更因为对“现场”的认知和研判不是有限的踏勘就可以完成。而本次“国际专硕”第二期课程,因为特殊的历史事件,分外艰难。由于疫情的阻碍,学生们错过了看场地的环节,足不出户几乎三月有余,与教师们一起坚持线上教学。在生活被迫静默的时期,描绘城市愿景,需要非凡的想象力和意志力。交大学生的坚韧性令人赞叹,并具有极高的求知欲和自学力。这也是本人第一次在上海交大设计学院参与教学工作,所感良多,收获大于输出。

Teaching Urban Design is hard. Not only because the scope of the subject has almost no clear definition, but also the initial brief for any project is always ambiguous, and could be expanded during its development. The reading and understanding of the site could hardly be achieved through limited times of visiting, never mind during the pandemic when the site is unapproachable. As the city of Shanghai was locked down in unprecedent scale, the students of this studio were confined in their room for almost three months. When the normal urban life stopped and suffering was prevailing, it took great courage and strength to imagine the future of the city. The resilience of our fellow students and instructors are remarkable, and I am very proud to be part of it.
在国际专硕城市设计专题的第二个环节,由Peter提出的滨水空间城市更新议题,为同学们展开了更大范围的城市设计议题ZoneCoin。同时,日常教学受到了疫情的巨大挑战,而同学和指导教师们投入了更大的热情和努力,完满完成了本次课程。通过较大规模的地段研究,以不同视角和议题先行完成了针对城市重要议题的研究,并为专业硕士培养中的基于设计意图的研究能力提供了训练。基于研究,各组同学进而深入到不同地段的设计深入,直面场地内的问题,展望未来发展的种种可能,各具特色,呈现了丰厚的设计成果。希望基于本次课程,同学们能够不断理解城市问题、学习城市设计知识、锻炼从研究出发的设计策略建构,并直面未来的种种挑战。

During the 2nd session of Urban Design Core Studio 2 in M.Arch this year, Peter proposed the topic of urban renewal of waterfront space, which launched a wider range of urban design topics for the students. Meanwhile, both teaching and learning have been greatly challenged by the epidemic, however, the students and instructors have invested more enthusiasm and efforts to complete this course. Undertaking a larger scale site design, the research focusing on some significant issues was completed with different perspectives and methods, and the research ability based on design intent in the professional master's training was provided. Based on the research, each group dug into the design of individual site through the realistic issues and illustrated the possibilities of future development with rich design outcomes. It is hoped that based on this course, students will be able to continuously explore urban issues, acquire urban design knowledge, exercise the design strategies based on research, and face the challenges of the future.
